Instruction

General Information for Preparing Manuscript

Three types of manuscripts are acceptable for publication: Articles, Communications and Reviews.

Articles are meant for papers reporting the results of completed definite studies. If several closely related manuscripts are being prepared at about the same time, all should be submitted together.

Communications are intended for the rapid and timely publication of original research of significance. Communications are short contributions not exceeding three printed pages in length. Communications is not over 2 000 words.

Reviews articles deal with topics of current interest in areas relating to plant protection. Rather than an assemblage of detailed information with a complete literature survey, a critically selected treatment of the material is desired. Unsolved problems and possible developments should also be discussed. Review articles are generally written upon invitation of the Chief Editor.

Preparation of Manuscripts

The manuscripts should be written in English on A4 page size with “Times New Roman” font, 12 pt, 1.5 spacing with all margins 2.5 cm on all sides. The manuscript should follow this sequence: Title, Full Name(s) (Last, Middle, First name), Full address of the author(s), Footnote, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgments, References.

Title should clearly and accurately indicate the contents of the Articles or Communications and should be expressed in adequate scientific terms. No abbreviations should be used in the titles.

Full address of authors should be placed below the Title.

Footnote should be included at the bottom on the first page to give the information regarding funding, and e-mail address of the author for correspondence.

Abstracts should state briefly the reason for the work, the significant results and conclusions. The abstract should be informative, concise, and in a form that is fully intelligible in conjunction with the title. It should not include citation of references or reference to figures and tables in the text.

Keywords should be given three to five at the bottom of the Abstract to serve as guidelines for indexing.

Introduction paragraphs should be as concise as possible.

Materials and Methods should include full details of the statistical technique used.

Tables and Figures must be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals respectively and should be self-explanatory. Tables must have a brief descriptive title and include footnotes if necessary. “Figure” should be abbreviated to “Fig.”. Figure should have figure captions, either with the figures or collected on a separate sheet. The contents of figures, tables and word descriptions should not be duplicated.

Photographs should be of sufficiently high quality with respect to detail and contrast. Indicate the magnification by a bar on the photograph. Photographs and RGB bitmaps should be provided in JPEG or TIFF file format. They must have no less than 300 dpi resolution, so if they should occupy text column width (8 cm) they must have at least 1000 pixels width. Please send original (not resized) photograph(s), straight from a digital camera, without any text descriptions on the photo.

References should be cited according to (author, date) system in text. In text references should be stated by author (surname) followed by year in parentheses, e.g. (Altieri, 2004). If there are two authors, e.g. (McDonald & Nicol, 2005). If there are more than two authors, e.g. (Biesmeijer et al., 2006). If there are two or more references, references should be cited in order of time. If references by the same authors in the same year are cited, they should be distinguished by the letters a, b, c, etc. In the reference list, all references should be arranged in alphabetical order. If there are less than ten authors, all authors should be listed. Full name of journal titles should be listed. Reference accuracy is critical and authors are responsible for the accuracy of the references. Only articles that have been published or are in press should be included in the References. Journal articles and books must be cited by the following formats:
